Government Bans..

http://m.timesofindia.com/PDATOI/articleshow/7448478.cms

Yesterday's newspaper made a weird smile onto my face and made me to put my opinion onto paper, and hence I express thru this blog. ""Govt bans plastic sachets for gutka, tobacco"" made me very happy about government’s initiatives to stop Guthkas and work towards social health awareness. Suddenly I considered the ill-effects of the decision.

What I see a "Ban" is actually not a Solution, it’s a useless alternative Government has made. Banning Plastic Cover on Gutkas and Tobaccos will lead to packaging in Paper sachets, which is yielded from trees. Hence again Environment comes under scanner as more trees will be cut down for packaging of guthkas. Costs per production will go high and hence Gutkas, tobacoo sachets will become costly. The motive for Environment friendly atmosphere is yet not achieved. I ask Government Why not ban on Production or manufacturing firms which make such sachets?

Last year Government made ban on Smoking in Public places. A Fine of 200 RS will be taken from any person caught smoking in Public areas. This could have resulted in Crores of income for the government, but this is yet to make any Effect. I still suffer Suffocation when I cross smoking zones. Govt. has never defined any Smoking zones. I ask Government Why not ban on Production or manufacturing firms which make Cigarattes?

Solution is different from an alternative. Correct solution is only banning the production firms, but these industries have already established themselves on stock market and in terms of employment and income, it’s rather impossible or foolish to think on shutting them down. When Environment minister planned for banning Plastic sachets on Guthkas and Tobaccos, he might not give a thought for effect on trees.

I think Ban on Plastic Carry Bags is actually a good move toward Environment friendly surroundings. Plastic carry bags can be replaced by Cloth bags during grocery shopping (Traditional usage). Cost of carry bag now needs to be beared by consumer, and hence consumer will avoid Purchasing Plastic from his pocket. Hence the decision may go good. But again it may hamper the environmental factors if Paper bags will be preferred.

All these bans are actually on paper only, yet it seems to create an impact in market. I expect it should actually do the change, coz our youngsters should not be a Tobacco addict.

Philanthropy

Over Few Years Philanthropy has gained Popularity across Globe and has become a Career for Millionaires and Billionaires. If you notice there are so many Philanthropists around us who neither Publicity nor Media. Philanthropy is an actually an Act which not just mean to Donate Amount for some Noble Cause, it actually Stands for Doing Good for the Social Sector or any Backward Class.

Many People in my social network plan to be philanthropist in later stage of their career, once they get retired. I Question them why not today, if some1 has planned to do it, why not today, Countries especially India needs Leaders now-a-days desperately.  Philanthropy not only stands in terms of Financial Aid one can give, it also stands for Time & Efforts given for a Benefit of Social Sector, Improvement or up liftment of backward Classes. Philanthropy can even be done locally; one need not go International for Donating Amounts. Once can even Work for Social Sector through local NGO's or Even without NGO people work for benefit for others.

If some1 say, philanthropy exists in our Country, I ask Why do I still see so much Poverty around? Beggars around Streets, Temples & Railway Stations? Trust me you cannot go to Hajji Ali, if You Cannot see a complete human body in its shape. I  Question our Country Leaders Why philanthropy focuses only on Education, Improving Infrastructure, and on compensation reliefs during mishap. Today Even if Government is spending across Infrastructure, Banking, most of our Population is Socially and Economically Excluded.

Coming back to Philanthropy, there exist a major problem with it, People Focuses Only on the Act of Philanthropy but No One has Thought about the Implementation Issues in Philanthropy…  Let’s say if some leader has donated an amount of 1million to any NGO, It’s very crucial how the amount is utilized and used for the Social Impact. Leader has done the job with a Donation, however the Implementation Concern is Lost too. I am not Questioning Over any NGO or their Operational Activities, but the Resource & Money Utilization can be done in a much better way.

Helping hand (Say Donation) should Actually Result in a way due to which Revenue should keep coming. Most Problems has solution as Money. I am not convincing for "Entrepreneurship with Philanthropy" but I am saying the implementation of Philanthropy should Yield Results. If sometime somehow I need to help any poor, I will End up with Giving him an Opportunity to earn Money on his Own, i.e.; sharing an Idea for Earning Money. However I will definitely Finance if I Find him the potential to carry the task. Giving 1000 bucks to an poor man and leaving without the concern how my 1000rs actually be spent by that person, will again make him to ask 1000rs more after a week again, which I cannot bear....

In all, Process of philanthropy actually needs to be more focused and Needs Attention. India doesn’t have Good Professionals in this domain.  I don’t Appreciate if any philanthropy task is just done with the sense of Publicity and a Media act. It’s not just a responsibility of Corporate sector or NGO’s to do good for other. Noble Cause starts from within....
